I founded KS Ruminant Nutrition Support Services in January 2026 after more than two decades working in beef and sheep nutrition. I live with my family on our mixed farm in the village of Newtyle on the Angus–Perthshire border, where livestock and practical farming have always been part of daily life.
I grew up immersed in livestock which led me to study Agriculture with Animal Science at Aberdeen University. I went on to get further experience on livestock farms in Scotland and New Zealand before taking up a temporary position as a research technician at SAC Edinburgh, working on ewe and lamb nutrition trials. This was a great experience that marked the beginning of my ruminant nutrition career in 2003.
From there I worked in the feed industry and latterly, from 2012, for SAC Consulting as a ruminant nutritionist in the Livestock Team. Both roles gave me a huge amount of experience and knowledge as well as working with some fantastic people and on exciting projects along the way. In January 2026 I decided to go freelance and offer beef and sheep farmers, vets, and industry partners a genuinely independent and practical nutritional support service.
